Parishioners at the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral have been urged to take a look at themselves and give up sin during this Lenten season.
The message was delivered to a packed cathedral by Roman Catholic Bishop of Bridgetown, Bishop Neil Scantlebury during the Ash Wednesday lunch time service at the Bay Street, St Michael.
“We need to look at ourselves and see the areas we say no more, the areas we need to repent of our sinful ways. At the end of the day, who are we pleasing; ourselves, other people or God?” he asked.
The Bishop noted that whatever was started during Lent must continue after Easter and be for the long haul.
Bishop Scantlebury also urged parishioners to download an exam of consciousness and examine themselves and return to confession, as they turn their minds away from sin and return to the gospel of Jesus Christ. (RA)
