Weather forecasters in Barbados are closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave east of the island.
Forecasters at the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) indicated in a weather information statement that the tropical wave is expected to affect the island between Wednesday and Thursday this week, regardless of how it develops.
“Convection associated with the tropical wave is disorganised at this time as it moves slowly westward at 11 to 17 miles an hour,” the weather statement added. “Current model guidance suggests that any development will be slow to occur over the next few days.
“During its passage, there is the possibility of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall and a deterioration in sea conditions, which may warrant the issuance of watches/warnings from Tuesday, September 20.”
The BMS urged the public to stay alert for updates issued on this system over the next few days.
The next update will be at noon on Tuesday, or sooner if conditions warrant.
