Workers who are carrying out “an invaluable service” to this country should never feel threatened.
And Minister of the Environment Adrian Forde is warning members of the public who assault Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) workers that they would feel the weight of the law.
“To those who deem it necessary to verbally and/or physically abuse sanitation workers who are going about their work, I say cut it out immediately or you will feel the full extent of the law. I have spoken to management of the SSA – any incidents of abuse will be reported to the police and we will seek prosecution,” he told the Daily Nation.
SSA public relations officer Carl Padmore, in an earlier statement to the media, said a worker was struck in the face on Friday evening while trying to pick up garbage. This follows other incident in various communities. (Nation News)
