A flood warning remains in effect for Barbados and will be updated at noon or sooner if conditions warrant.
Barbados Meteorological Services said a flood warning is issued when flooding is occurring or is imminent within the next 48 hours
A trough system continues to affect the island, generating periods of rain and moderate to heavy showers. Over the past 24-hours, observations showed between two and five inches of rainfall across the island. Although rainfall decreased overnight, conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the day with further accumulations of 25mm to 75mm with isolated higher amounts.
These unstable conditions are expected to persist across the island over the next few days.
Residents and visitors should note that the following are likely during this forecast period: Significant runoff from higher elevations; significant soil erosion on exposed or scarred land surfaces; large water settlements on roads and fields; significant adjustments to water levels of existing water bodies (ponds and so on) and delays on traffic routes with some roads possibly impassable.
Large objects or debris from higher elevations may also become embedded within fast-moving water flows. Significant flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads is also possible.
