A flash flood watch is in effect for central, northern and some eastern districts of Barbados from 10:15 a.m. today and will be terminated at 6 p.m., or sooner if conditions warrant.
A trough system is affecting the island and is expected to bring heavy to intense rains and thunderstorm activity. Rainfall accumulations between 1 to 2 inches are expected.
A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area, but it does not mean that flooding will occur.
