Barbados is currently under a flash flood watch which went into effect from 6 p.m. Friday, December 8, and will continue until 6 a.m. Saturday, December 9.
A trough system is affecting the island and will generate moderate to heavy showers from tonight into tomorrow morning. Rainfall accumulations of one inch have already been recorded across the island today. Further accumulations of one to two inches are expected to persist into the night.
A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible. (PR/KNB)
