Flash flood warning for north-western districts

Weather forecasters in Barbados issued a flash flood watch at 3 p.m. on Tuesday for north-western districts.

According to a weather bulletin from the Barbados Meteorological Service, a light wind regime across the island, further rainfall accumulations of 20 to 40 millimetres in heavy showers are anticipated mainly across north-western districts.

Forecasters have indicated the flash flood watch may be terminated before 6 p.m. if conditions improve.

Earlier, forecasters issued a flash flood warning for the island, but it was discontinued around 3 p.m.

A flash flood watch is typically issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible.
