The then 53-year-old father convicted of having sexual intercourse with his 11-year-old daughter was given a starting sentence of 18 years in jail, when he reappeared in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday.
The father, whose name cannot be mentioned by law, will however serve just over 13 years after deductions.
The man, now 65, had initially denied having unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl, now 23, sometime between August and October 2011.
He was represented by attorney Dennis Headley, while Senior State Counsel Romario Straker appeared for the prosecution.
A nine-member jury found him guilty. (HLE)
