Principal surgeon at Surgical Solutions Inc., Dr Sahle Griffith, said he agonised for months that his surgery contributed to Warren Mottley’s death.
However, he added, after reviewing months of medical journals, he finally understood earlier this year that that was not the case.
“I did not think at that time that it was a blood clot that caused the ischaemia. I had no idea what caused the ischaemia. The first thing that informed me was when a BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) journalist died from an ischaemic clot, secondary to COVAX vaccine, and it was advertised on the BBC. That was the last quarter of 2021,” he testified yesterday.
Griffith was on the witness stand for a fifth day as a Coroner’s Inquest into Mottley’s death continued before Coroner Graveney Bannister in the No. 10 Supreme Court.
Mottley, brother of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) on June 29, 2021, after undergoing a colonoscopy on June 22, 2021. (RA)
