Warren Mottley died from sepsis after his small intestine was perforated during laparoscopic surgery.
So said forensic pathologist Dr Shubhakar Karra Paul, who, in his report, has urged the Coroner to investigate the surgical procedures offered by company Surgical Solutions.
“Mr Mottley’s laparoscopic surgery caused a perforation to his small bowel, which, in turn, contributed to sepsis leading to his death,” he said.
“The standard of medical care before, during and after the surgical procedures (colonoscopy and laparoscopy) offered by Surgical Solutions Inc. must be investigated by the Coroner since it’s beyond the scope of this author of this report to opine if Surgical Solutions Inc. had the expertise and set-up to deal with such a case,” Shubhakar said yesterday.
