It is still not viable for local businesses to open stores in Bridgetown on Christmas Day.
Yesterday, some of the visitors on board the Enchanted Princess and Marella Explorer 2 who decided to take a walk into The City, found a ghost town.
This is likely to continue until Bridgetown becomes a duty-free zone because businesses cannot meet the overtime expenses associated with opening on bank holidays, says head of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Trisha Tannis.
Some of the visitors from London told the Daily Nation they were not surprised because that city was also closed on Christmas Day. (Nation News)
