The special leave to appeal case of Alex Tasker will be heard by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Monday in Barbados.
Tasker, 61, of Mayfair Terrace, Leadvale, Christ Church, and who is being sought by the United States on money laundering charges, will be one of three people whose cases are to be heard during the rare itinerant sitting here.
It will be the second time that the CCJ is sitting in Barbados since the court’s establishment in 2005. Two of the cases are from Barbados while the third is from Guyana.
The CCJ refused to grant permission to give Tasker’s legal team leave to appeal the September 2021 order by Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes that Tasker be extradited to the United States of America, which was also upheld by the Barbados Court of Appeal. (AC)
