Catastrophe Fund to be repurposed

The Catastrophe Fund is set to be repurposed into a broader National Resilience Fund, Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn announced during the 2025 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposal.

Currently, only employees and self-employed persons are eligible to contribute to the fund, at a rate of 0.1 per cent of their salaries. For example, someone earning $2,000 a month contributes just $2.
