President of Barbados The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason is calling on two groups to join forces to help bring the family back to its basic unit.
Dame Sandra said the Men’s Education Support Association (MESA) and Parent Education for Development in Barbados (PAREDOS) should team up, as she addressed the annual general meeting of the parents’ group at the Accra Beach Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church yesterday.
“Have we in PAREDOS contemplated using the MESA as part of our board, as an integral partner in the development of parent education in Barbados? I don’t know if this has already been done . . . because I am thinking that if we can get the men of MESA to actively participate in the work of PAREDOS, this can only redound to the benefit of both organisations . . . .
“If we in PAREDOS can seriously bring them on board, there will be less room for the blame game to play out because if MESA is there with us, they will work with us with whatever we are doing and they will encourage their men to come to the counselling sessions and we will not have our new vice-president working himself to a bone doing his counselling sessions because MESA men will bring all those men into the fold and this will redound to the benefit of all of us,” said the patron of PAREDOS.
Dame Sandra noted that the organisation of PAREDOS was needed now more than ever. (RA)
