The Barbados Worker’s Union (BWU) says it is trying to right several wrongs in the hotel sector.
And general secretary Toni Moore said they are not ruling out stronger measures to accomplish their goals during the winter tourism season.
“The BWU would prefer if we could see the changes coming without us having to go on an all-out offensive, but we are prepared, if it becomes necessary, to go there. We cannot allow this season to begin and end without workers seeing genuine improvements.
“The season ends April 30. I know there are some hoteliers and some members of the public who are expecting the union to have some action, but nobody will figure out our rhythm and know what we plan to do. But our endgame is for the hotel workers, their families, and friends and for the wider public to observe the differences that have taken place in the industry. However, until we get there it means our job is not done,” Moore said.
