Thousands rallied with the Barbados Workers Union (BWU) as they celebrated the workforce on May Day at the National Botanical Gardens.
Before noon, some of the attendees had already arrived to pick a spot where they could enjoy all that the “It’s About You Family Day and Picnic” had to offer.
The event, which was held in association with National Cultural Foundation, featured numerous cultural displays from the Intangible Cultural Heritage programme. There were tuk, flute, stick licking and land ship and maypole displays.

There were also performances by Reneice Bonnett, John Yarde, Lil Rick, Mole, Edwin Yearwood and Red Plastic Bag.
Amidst the entertainment, there was also opportunities available to help individuals advance their careers, as the patrons were also informed about training opportunities being provided by the National Transformation Initiative.
There was also the signing of a protocol to assist workers by Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Minister of Labour Colin Jordan, General Secretary of BWU Toni Moore, President of the National Union of Public Workers Kimberley Agard and President of Barbados Secondary Schools Teachers Union Mary Redman.
