Airport drugs theft accused remanded

A general worker, charged in connection with September’s theft of drugs from a secure area at the Grantley Adams International Airport, was remanded to prison when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Gregory Junior Simpson, of 1st Avenue, Clerpark, St James, did not plead to the District “B” charge of entering Goddard’s Catering Group Ground Services, between September 3 and 4 this year, and stealing two suitcases, 6.55 kilogrammes of cannabis and a quantity of clothing belonging to the State in its rights as the Government of Barbados.

He also did not plead to possession of cannabis; having a traffickable quantity of the drug and possession with intent to supply, between September 3 and 4.

Simpson was also charged, in the District “A” jurisdiction, with possession of cannabis; having a traffickable quantity of the drug and possession with intent to supply on December 16. (HLE)
