Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams has confirmed that a man who recently entered Dodds Prison with unauthorised items will not face criminal charges.
In a release yesterday, he said the man was not charged because the items, two flash drives, did not meet the threshold where they would be considered a threat to security at the St Philip jail.
He revealed that the Barbados Prison Service had received creditable information that a named individual intended to bring contraband into Dodds.
“On his arrival to the prison, the individual was kept under observation as he proceeded to the main checkpoint where he, along with his possessions, were searched by an officer, and two flash drives were found concealed in a small compartment of his bag. He was interviewed by the acting superintendent of prisons and the Barbados Police Service was informed of the incident,” Abrahams said. (BA/PR)
