Leeward Islands Hurricanes were 339 for nine in their second innings against Barbados Pride at lunch on the rain-marred final day of their first round match in the West Indies Championship on Saturday at Kensington Oval, leading by 187.
At the interval, Jermaine Louis was not out on 42 and Nino Henry was not out on seven after Hurricanes resumed from their overnight total of 294 for seven.
In between two rain interruptions, rookie left-arm pacer Ramon Simmonds took all two wickets that fell before luncch and has been the most successful Pride bowler with 4-57 from 19 overs.
Only one over was possible before rain stopped play for 35 minutes and forced a rescheduling of lunch, and the players returned for a spell of play that last almost an hour-and-a-half before another showers forced them off again.
Before lunch, Simmonds got Hurricanes captain Jahmar Hamilton bowled for 47, playing on a rising ball, and followed up with the scalp of Colin Archibald Jr caught at first slip for a three-ball duck in the same over.
Pride were further frustrated for another 40 minutes before the second shower when lame last man Nino Henry came to the crease and shared an unbroken stand of 27.
Play is set to resume at 12:50 p.m. with the close of play rescheduled to 5:40 p.m.
