Pride 204-5 in their first innings vs Hurricanes at tea

Barbados Pride were 204 for five, replying to Leeward Islands Hurricanes’ first innings total of 172 for nine declared, at tea on the second day of their first round match in the West Indies Championship on Thursday at Kensington Oval.

At the interval, Shane Dowrich was not out on 55 and Shamar Springer was not out on 33, after Pride continued from their lunch total of 110 for three.

Dowrich and Springer have so far added 80 – unbroken – for the sixth wicket after they stumbled to 124 for five.

Dowrich, the out-of-favour West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman, has batted for 119 minutes, faced 84 balls, and hit half-dozen fours, and Springer, a member of the 2016 West Indies Under-19 World Cup winning squad, struck three boundaries from 81 balls in 98 minutes.

After lunch, Pride lost left-hander Raymon Reifer caught behind off left-arm pacer Colin Archibald for 23, edging the first ball.

Justin Greaves was caught at first slip off Archibald for seven, playing forward.

Archibald has been the most successful Hurricanes bowler taking 3-28 from 15 overs.
