Front runners in the Co-operators General Insurance BABA Premier League, Pinelands, enjoyed “happy hour” when they met CAM Smart Assurance City United Celtics at the Barbados Community College Gym on Sunday.
Playing in the final game of a triple header, former champions Pinelands were destroying Celtic 111-31 in the third quarter when their opponents ran into foul trouble, became understaffed and the officials mercifully blew off the game. Pinelands, who have looked in great form so far, hardly needed such generosity to move to 3/0.
Week one’s Most Valuable Player Deveron Knight enjoyed another good game, scoring 23 points for Pinelands.
Pint-sized Derion Hurley was on fire, scoring 26 points spiced with five treys. He also upstaged the big men in his team to top the rebound stats with nine boards. (KB)
