Lead investigator detective Constable Ross Phillips maintained he conducted a thorough investigation that was in no way shoddy and biased, despite not having any evidence of DNA, fingerprints for the complainant or medical evidence against rape accused Mario Rommell Neptune.
He was testifying in the No. 2 Supreme Court in the trial of Neptune, 36, of Spooners Hill, St Michael, who has denied raping a woman on April 15, 2017.
The matter is being heard by a jury of seven women and two men and presided over by Justice Randall Worrell. Senior State Counsel Olivia Davis is prosecuting while attorney Justin Leacock is representing Neptune with assistance from King’s Counsel Michael Lashley.
Under cross-examination by Leacock, Phillips told the court that during the course of the investigation, he interviewed and charged Neptune. (HLE)
