Purposeful batting from Shai Hope and Roston Chase failed to top half-centuries from Rovman Powell and Nkrumah Bonner, and Jamaica Scorpions beat Barbados Pride by 64 runs in the West Indies Super50 Cup on Thursday in Antigua.
Chasing 278 for victory in the day-night contest at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, there was little substance from the Pride batting apart from their captain Hope with a top score of 86 and Chase with 57.
Earlier, Scorpions, choosing to bat, posted 277 for six with their captain Powell leading the way with an even 80, Nkrumah Bonner supporting with 59, and Odean Brown adding 44 not out.
Chase was the pick of the Pride bowlers with 3-33.
Summarised scores:
Scorpions 277 for six off 50 overs (Rovman Powell 80, Nkrumah Bonner 59, Odean Smith 44 not out; Roston Chase 3-33)
Pride 213 all out of 44.1 overs (Shai Hope 86, Roston Chase 57; Nicholson Gordon 3-21, Odean Smith 2-24).
