There is no rationale for the continued embargo of Cuba, says Minister with responsibility for Culture, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight.
She made the observation during her address at the Cubana Monument in Paynes Bay, St James, at the annual ceremony to mark the 1988 airline tragedy.
“To have countries like Cuba on the outskirts of the international community . . . but we as Barbadians, we as Caribbean people, as citizens of the world with a face and with a voice must be able to say strongly that we will not tolerate the injustice. It’s just blatantly unfair,” she said.
She said both government and CARICOM would continue to speak out against the issue and left the podium to be embraced by Cuban ambassador to Barbados, Sergio Pastrana. (Nation News)
