West Indies warmed up for their Betway Twenty20 Series against England with a comfortable win over a Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) President’s XI in a T20 day-night match yesterday evening.
Playing at Kensington Oval, venue for the five-match series, West Indies cruised to a seven-wicket victory as they reached 132 for three in 15 overs, replying to the BCA President’s XI’s modest 131-6.
Batting first, wicketkeeper Tevyn Walcott led the way with a knock of 33 off 25 balls, inclusive of five fours. Other useful contributions came from Kyle Hope (25), Zachary McCaskie (20) and Shamar Springer, who was unbeaten on 24 off 15 balls after striking two sixes and a four.
Leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr (2-28) returned the best figures for West Indies as he captured the wickets of Hope and all-rounder Kevin Stoute, who made six.
