Weather forecasters issued a flash flood warning at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday for central, western, and south-western districts in Barbados.
According to a weather bulletin from the Barbados Meteorological Services, maximum rainfall accumulations of 25 millimetres to 75 millimetres in heavy to violent showers are anticipated across these districts of Barbados as instability associated with Tropical Storm Fiona affects the island throughout the afternoon.
Forecasters indicated that the flash flood warning will be terminated at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions improve.
A flash flood warning is typically issued when forecasters expect rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) to happen in the warning area.
