J.C.B Boscobelle, benefiting from an all-round team effort, beat St John Cultural by seven wickets in yesterday’s final to become the Barbados Cricket Association’s Intermediate Shield 40-over champions for the first time in the club’s history.
Playing at the Maurice King Sports Complex in Briar Hall, Boscobelle outplayed St John Cultural in all facets of the game, much to the delight of their supporters among the estimated 400 spectators scattered around the Christ Church venue.
Sent in on a tricky pitch with a fair layer of grass, St John Cultural never recovered from the loss of former Carlton batsman Vonrick Nurse for one in the second over and struggled throughout their innings before being dismissed for an unsatisfactory 123 in 36.3 overs.
Former Barbados and West Indies One-Day wicketkeeper/batsman Patrick Browne top-scored with 30 off 32 balls. (EZS)
