Jonathan Jones finished eighth in the men’s 400 metres final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, earlier tonight.
The Barbados record holder clocked 46.13 seconds, running out of lane 2.
American Michael Norman raced to gold in 44.29 seconds. Former Olympic champion Kirani James of Grenada was second in 44.48 and bronze went to Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith in 44.66.
That event brought the curtain down on Barbados’ participation in the meet.
Earlier, Sada Williams won bronze in the women’s event in a new national record of 49.75 seconds and Shane Brathwaite reached the finals of the men’s 110m hurdles, but did not complete the race after striking one of the barriers.
Track and field lovers will now turn their attention to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next week. (SAT)
