Gunman fined $16 500

A gunman who armed himself for protection because there were “a lot of shootings going on” was fined a total of $16 500 when he appeared in the No.2 Supreme Court yesterday.

Novon Neuo Neblett, of Lower Estate, St George, admitted having a .25-calibre pistol and one round of ammunition on January 5, 2015.

He was represented by attorney Desmond Sands, while State Counsel Romario Straker appeared for the prosecution.

“What did you want a gun for?” Justice Randall Worrell asked the first-time gun offender.

“At the time I wasn’t thinking like how I thinking right now, so I can’t give no explanation that would make sense. I was wrong at that time. I wasn’t really thinking for myself at that time,” Neblett replied. (HLE)
