Agrofest is back

The island’s biggest agricultural event is slated to make a return since 2020.

Agrofest is now a two day event on the 2022 calendar, taking place from on May 28 and 29 and the exhibitors are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase their products and skills to locals and the tourists alike.

Agrofest makes a return at a critical time, when food security is being threatened across the region due to the instability and tension within the international sphere.

With these risks to the livelihoods and development of our small islands, it is important to ensure that the agricultural sector remains strong and that the adequate support is provided to sustain our development.

With a theme of Greening Together, A Caribbean Thing – the focus remains on regional collaboration to ensure that food production remains an important feature in our culture as it is significant to sustaining our society.

Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society, James Paul outlines that with only a couple of days remaining until the event, that the excitement is brewing.

However, exhibitors and patrons alike must be reminded of the protocols in place. While there are no vaccination or testing requirements, patrons and exhibitors are reminded that wearing masks, sanitizing and submitting to temperature checks are mandatory.

 

The public is also reminded that tickets can be secured from the below box offices located across the island at an economically friendly price of $18 for adults and $6 for children:

With such an anticipated return, the public is encouraged to come out and take in all the exhibits which features contributors from Guyana and Suriname.

The main highlights of the event also include an entertainment segment which highlights the major contributions from Sister Marshall over the years and livestock shows such as the Sheep Show, Cattle Show and Dairy Show.

In addition to these features, the event also includes a kid’s zone, food sampling stations, mixology demonstrations, cultural exhibits, loads of prizes and giveaways and a whole lot more.
