More changes have been implemented ahead of the upcoming Crop Over Festival.
Instead of the six routes that were proposed in March, the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) and various stakeholders have decided to reduce the routes for Grand Kadooment and Foreday Morning.
For Grand Kadooment there is one route – masqueraders will now parade from the ABC Highway to the Emancipation Statue (Bussa), back along the Highway through Waterford and end at the National Stadium, Waterford, St Michael.
For Foreday Morning there are two options – one in St Philip and the other in Christ Church. In St Philip, revellers can jump from King George V Memorial Park to Lucas Street and into Bushy Park, entering via the North gate.
The other option is Searles to the Lowlands Roundabout and back to Searles in Christ Church.
Chief Executive Officer of the NCF Carol Roberts-Reifer made those announcements at the NCF headquarters, West Terrace, St James on Tuesday during a press conference.
Head of the Entertainment Association of Barbados Rudy Maloney, President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders Anthony Layne, representative of the Foreday Morning bands Bryan Worrell and other officials were present.
It was also announced that all revellers must be fully vaccinated or present a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than 24 hours before the event. The test is valid for 48 hours. (TG)
