He has been celebrating birthdays from the beginning of the year and that was the reason for his behaviour, said Winston Oneal Gittens.

“I’m not a violent person,” he told the District “A” Traffic Court yesterday.
“This month is my birth month and two friends – one is the 1st, another is the 31st – and mine is the 27th and we were drinking. The thing is, I can’t remember eating.”
The 55-year-old maintenance man, of Browne’s Gap, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church, had just pleaded guilty to using the threatening words: “My name is Winston Oneal Gittens and I am going to blow up and burn down your house and shoot your children,” to Yvette Gittens, on January 6, with intent to cause Yvette Gittens to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against her.
He also admitted causing a disturbance to be made on Browne’s Gap, Sargeant’s Village road on the same date.
“I have to done with alcohol. It will never happen again,” he told the court.
Magistrate Alison Burke, who warned him not to issue such threats in the future, placed him on a bond to keep the peace for six months. If Gittens breaches it, he will have to pay $500 forthwith or spend a month in prison. Prosecutor Station Sergeant St Clair Phillips said the two are siblings who live near to each other. It was around 7:30 p.m. when Gittens went to his sister’s house and asked for a glass of water.
Her grandchildren walked through the door and closed it in his face. As a result, he started to curse.
He pushed his sister and she became fearful.
Gittens then left and returned with a cutlass which he started to wave in a threatening manner. Those who were nearby became afraid and police were called.
By the time they arrived, Gittens was still cursing, but was no longer wielding the cutlass, and he walked past them screaming he would blow up the house. (HLE)
