Government Senator Gregory Nicholls says he is at a loss as to why there are so many naysayers surrounding the $50 million loan undertaken by Government to stage the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024.
“I am hearing talk that Government need to justify this expenditure and they must come up with a plan for cricket. But cricket is alive and well in Barbados. You just have to walk around this country, look at the printed press and on social media and you will see several cricket competitions,” he said.
Nicholls, a Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) board member, was speaking Friday on the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies Bill, 2024, in the Senate. (NS)
