SEVENTY YEARS AGO, the first direct British Airways (BA) flight landed in Barbados.

Yesterday, the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) celebrated the occasion with a media briefing in the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael, followed by a reception at llaro Court.

BTMI’s chief operations officer, Cheryl Carter, spoke about the increasing airlift from the United Kingdom, while BA’s chief commercial officer, Colm Lacy, said they were spending $9 billion to transform the airline and reduce its environmental impact. (CA)
