A father who admitted to four counts of incest with his 13-year-old daughter has been remanded to Dodds Prison.
The man, who was 34 at the time, stood before Justice Wanda Blair in Supreme Court No. 4A yesterday, where he pleaded guilty to having sex with the teenager between October 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018, knowing that by blood relation, she was his daughter. The incidents took place at the rented home he shared with his girlfriend and their four children.
Reading the girl’s statement yesterday, acting Senior State Counsel Joyanne Catwell described in detail what happened on each occasion – how her father called her into his bedroom once the other family members were not at home and told her to lay on the bed before having sex with her. Even though
she tried to push him off and told him to stop each time, he continued. She was given money by him on a few occasions after he started committing the incest. Even though she did not tell anyone for some time, she eventually confided in a school friend who advised her to either tell her mother, or she would.
The prosecutor also referred to the father’s statement to police. In it, he revealed that he and his girlfriend had financial and familial issues which had him under great stress, and he felt like he was fighting a losing battle. (SD)
