The Deputy Chief Labour Officer wants the word to go out to employers – waste the labour officers’ time and you will end up before the court.
Wayne Sobers issued the warning in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday after a businessman and his company had been hauled to court for failing to hand over the company’s wages records to a labour officer.
“We have a small team of officers and you may be aware that we are often criticised, very harshly, in the pubic for not attending to public matters,” he told the court.
“But oftentimes matters, such as the one before the court, help to delay us and affect our ability to perform. (SD)
