Attorney Errol Gaskin is facing four charges in a New York City court.
The Barbadian, who came back into the island this morning, was arraigned in Kings County Criminal Court on Monday evening.
The 60-year-old, who was arrested by the 67th Precinct in Brooklyn, New York, was admitted to the local Bar last October.
A retired divisional officer of the Barbados Fire Service, having served 38 years, Gaskin, in his first appearance, pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault in the third degree with intent to cause physical injury, harassment in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Gaskin, who had a public defender, was ordered to reappear in court on February 29. He was referred to the problem solving/alternative court programme by judge Dale Fong-Frederick. (NS)
