The Barbados Football Association (BFA) is preparing for an impactful 2024 with several additions and changes to its current mode of operations.
Speaking exclusively to Weekend Sport, BFA president Randy Harris, in his assessment of the past year, noted that 2024 will see the introduction of the BFA’s long-awaited football academy as well as the completion of the third phase of construction at their Wildey headquarters.
Harris reiterated the BFA’s desire to promote a professional mindset among the clubs and players. In conjunction with the Ministry of Sport, the academy, to be named after football icon Gregory “Lalu” Goodridge, will be put in place by the local governing body to help fast track the island’s best players into a collegiate, professional or semi-professional sporting environment.
“We have our Talent Development Scheme and our Football for Schools programme, but we want to put an academy in place for all members of the BFA’s membership,” Harris revealed.
