WI shift focus to T20s

West Indies and captain Rovman Powell are seeking the ascendency over England tonight when the first Twenty20 International bowls off at Kensington Oval for 6 p.m.

After an enthralling CG United One-day International 2-1 series triumph on Saturday night, the Daren Sammy-coached squad will hope to transfer their ODI success into the T20 format.

The star-studded West Indies squad which includes T20 dynamite Andre Russell, Kensington Oval superstar Jason Holder, ODI class act Shai Hope and the in-form Romario Shepherd will first have to decipher their final lineup combinations to achieve a winning result in Bridgetown.

“It’s always nice to be in Barbados, it’s always brings back good memories especially against England. It’s a powerful team, but having said that we still have to play some good cricket. We still have to put it together as a complete team,” Powell said yesterday.(RW)
