Floyd Allan Leacock, a man described by psychiatrists as schizophrenic and who has defaulted on his treatment several times, pleaded guilty yesterday to the unlawful killing of an elderly man in 2019.
The 51-year-old killer of Clifton Hill, St Thomas, whom psychiatrists also determined was fit to plead, denied murdering Patrick Barker, 74, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter when he appeared before Justice Randall Worrell in the No. 2 Supreme Court,
Barker, a former resident of Walkes Spring, St Thomas, was killed between February 12 and 13, 2019.
Acting Principal State Counsel Oliver Thomas said it was around 11 p.m. when Barker’s daughter was on the telephone speaking to Marquita Forde, her neighbour and cousin, when she heard Leacock shout once for “Caveman”. She decided not to answer but soon heard the sound of glass breaking and saw that the louvres next to the door were almost all broken. (SD)
