Magistrate scolds fighting drivers

“This sounds like pure madness!”

Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes expressed that view regarding the behaviour of two drivers who fought at the Top Rock roundabout in Christ Church one morning this week.

Deryck Walton Brathwaite, 50, an engineer, of Lot 43 Balls Land, Providence, Christ Church, pleaded guilty on Thursday to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Kadneil Moore on November 15.

Prosecutor Sergeant Randolph Boyce told the District “A” Magistrates’ Court No. 1 the complainant – a route taxi driver – and Brathwaite were both heading towards St Lawrence Gap and trying to get ahead of each other.

They exchanged words and Brathwaite got out, took the wheel tool from his car trunk and approached Moore, who was behind the wheel. Brathwaite grabbed his throat, but Moore pushed him off, got out and went for two stones.  (SD)
