Flash flood warning in effect

A flash flood warning is in effect for Barbados.

Met Officials expect the warning will end at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant.

Officials explained that a flash-flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.

A statement issued noted that localised shower activity is generating heavy showers over the northern districts of the island and rainfall of three to four inches is expected this afternoon. (PR/CM)
