Fast-improving boxer Jabali Breedy is seeking to rewrite history at the 2023 Pan American Games here in Santiago, Chile.
After Shawn ‘Terry’ Cox qualified for the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics some 23 years ago, Breedy, is confident of accomplishing a similar feat as he has his sights set on qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
A Central American and Caribbean Games bronze medallist, Breedy, 26, told Nation Sport he is ready to put on a dominant showing inside of the ring for Barbados and punch his ticket to the greatest sporting event on earth.
“I am mentally strong and more focused. To be honest, I am ready for anything, whatever they bring I am ready for it,” said Breedy.
The talented Barbadian, who trains at the Head Bangers Gym in Maryland, Washington DC with his coach Barry Hunter is high on confidence as he sets out to represent the ultramarine, gold and black in Santiago, along with top female pugilist Kimberly Gittens and Charles Cox, who both received an open invitation. The trio is part of a 30-strong delegation of athletes that will be competing across multiple disciplines. (ML)
