Flexitime may be one of the solutions to ensure productivity does not decrease and that workers are not overwhelmed by the intense temperatures affecting the country.
Some farmers made that suggestion as they did their best to brave the sun as some of their crops continue to take a hit.
“I think that employers need to look at earlier working hours to accommodate persons such as myself and others who work outside because these conditions are stressful on the body.
“Although it may be more costly because you have to use lights, and people may want overtime, you are looking at productivity and if persons are willing to work, for example, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. you could see more production,” farmer Timothy Blades said. (TG)
