Veteran masquerader Betty West has won the coveted Best Festival Designer – The Robert Weekes Award in this year’s Grand Kadooment.

West, with her portrayal of “Soca in de Mas” also copped Large Band of the Year – Heritage. The seven sections were themed after some of the iconic calypso hits.

Didi Winston, from the same band, was named Flagperson of the Year, followed by Justin Poleon of Fifth Element Mas’ and Nandi Yarde of Krave The Band.

Trevor Chase took the Small Band Of The Year – Heritage prize with his “Vintage Ouutraje Collection”.

“Kaleidoscope Dreams”, led by Bryan Worrell of Colorz Entertainment, won Large Band of the Year – Party.

The Best Individual Male was Kevin Small’s The Warrior of Fifth Element Mas‘, while the Best Individual Female was Olivia Hall’s portrayal of Queen Ramonda in Hijack.

The prize for Best Band on the Road was not awarded since all the eligible bands were unable to face the judges located at the Downes and Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Hall, St Michael location, due to a rerouting of some bands. The rerouting occurred because of the unfortunate shooting at Black Rock, St Michael. (PR/SAT)
