ZR driver Gregston Ricardo Orlando Sealy stopped to pick up a passenger in an undesignated area on Saturday and must now part with $300 for doing so.

Sealy, of Civilian Road, Bush Hall, St Michael, appeared in the District “A” Traffic Court yesterday before Magistrate Alison Burke and admitted that on March 21, he committed a traffic offence at Magazine Lane, The City, by picking up passengers at a place not designated for doing so.
He was given two weeks in which to pay the $300 or spend 15 days in prison.
The public service vehicle operator also pleaded guilty to using insulting language to Constable Justin Henry by saying: “He is a idiot.”
Prosecutor Sergeant Mary Eugene said two policemen were on duty when they saw ZR 398 coming from Roebuck Street onto Magazine Lane.
It pulled to the left side of the road and a female passenger got in. The officers drove next to the vehicle and told Sealy what they had witnessed.

They got out, went to him and requested his name and address, but he did not reply. He did not reply the second time either, nor did a male passenger inside the van who was asked whether
he knew Sealy’s particulars. In fact, none of the people who were close by cooperated with police by giving them any information.
Sealy was then escorted to Central Police Station, where his identity was ascertained.
The owner of the vehicle was also called and Sealy was allowed to speak to him. The officers saw Sealy point towards Constable Henry and say in a loud voice: “He is a idiot.”
Magistrate Burke chided Sealy for making the remark.
“I do not see that this type of behaviour is called for,” she stressed, but Sealy insisted he never had any conversation with Henry that day and therefore could not have called him an idiot.
She then informed him that whether he said it directly to Sealy or said it in his hearing, it was “the same thing” and was disrespectful. (SD)
