Both the forklift driver and the truck driver who were involved in moving more than 30 kilogrammes of marijuana last week, have nine months to come up with $60 000 each. Failure to pay will mean 12 months in prison for the St Michael men.
When Curtis Michael Quimby, 40, of Hunte’s Road, Carrington Village, St Michael, appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday, he pleaded guilty to the possession, intent to supply and trafficking of 30.05 kilogrammes of cannabis, on July 7. The contraband carries a street value of $240 400. The driver was reprimanded and discharged on the first two counts and fined for trafficking.
Sylvin Leroy Barnette, 53, of Ashdeane Village, also confessed to handling the cannabis on that same day, and he was given a similar fine. (SD)
