One hundred and eleven new COVID-19 cases (53 males and 58 females) were recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Saturday March, 5 from the 830 tests conducted.
The positive cases consist of 25 people under the age of 18 and 86 who are 18 years and older. There were 49 people in isolation facilities, while 1 645 were in home isolation.
The number of deaths from the viral illness stands at 321 after two more people succumbed on Sunday. They are an 89-year-old vaccinated man and a 96-year-old unvaccinated female.
The public health laboratory carried out 591 530 tests since February 2020 and recorded 56 124 (26 054 males and 30 070 females) of COVID-19.
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 160 470 (70.3 per cent of the eligible population).
The number of people who are fully vaccinated is149 972 (55.3 per cent of the total population or 65.7 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
