Despite many being enrolled at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, 7 500 students graduated from the University of the West Indies (UWI) across all campuses.
In his address to the 1 200 graduates of Cave Hill campus yesterday, UWI Chancellor Robert Bermudez described this as “an impressive demonstration of intellectual achievements across all age groups and disciplines.”
Acknowledging many would have missed part of the campus melting pot experience, he was hopeful bonds were still formed.
“Graduates, most of you began your programmes at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and some before lockdowns and restrictions changed our delivery mode. Some of you may have completed your programmes entirely online, and some in blended mode. Whatever your experience may have been, I trust that in addition to completing your academic programmes, you were able to form friendships – some of which will be important in your professional lives,” Bermudez said.
