Young entrepreneur spreading the word about climate change

A young entrepreneur with a passion for environmental issues is using the Adopt-a-Stop campaign to raise the awareness about climate change.

Terry Cutting, 26, is the managing director of Relentless Nostalgia Manufacturing, which has partnered with Adopt-a-Stop and HEY Caribbean to raise awareness about the dangers of littering through branding and advertising.

Cutting said he was honoured to have his small business on a bench outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and he also plans to use the distribution around the island of chillers for the natural juices his firm manufactures to get the message across further.

“My company teamed up with Adopt A Stop because they are the ones who have a lot of locations across the island for the procurement of advertising and branding on benches and bus stops and this initiative will branch off into bigger and better things,” he said.

“The fleet of display chillers will be going into various retail locations across the island, and they will display messages on the climate crisis and recommendations on the following issues which include but are not limited to generate basic climate concerns, health and environmental concerns, and entrepreneurship.

“Being a junior minister in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in the HEY Global Parliament as a Barbadian representative, my portfolio is aligned with food security as a climate crisis in itself.”

Chairman of the Future Centre Trust and Chief Executive Officer of Adopt-A-Stop, Barney Gibbs said they had seen the interest Cutting had for climate change and decided to assist him on his journey.

“We met Terry during a tree planting ceremony on the Barbados Trailway,” he said. “He expressed an interest in fruit trees, especially proper planting techniques and grafting and other practical issues.

“We wanted to encourage an entrepreneur who takes such a holistic approach to their product and this bench represents that support.”

Project Administrator at The Ashley Lashley Foundation, Rananko Bailey said that the Hey Campaign Caribbean and the campaign’s founder Ashley Lashley was pleased to partner with Cutting, who is a HEY Ambassador for Barbados to aid in efforts relating to the climate crisis.

“The HEY Campaign is always in support and elated to have its ambassadors be part of the solution within the climate crisis,” he said.

“Through this support of Terry, this initiative adds to the work and advocacy within the Healthy and Environmentally Friendly Youth Campaign in its global fight against the climate crisis, more particularly in this case, the reduction of litter and other incorrectly disposed waste that daily attributes to various environmental concerns.”
